Publisher Prime Matter and developer Mad Head Games have released a nine-minute pre-alpha gameplay video of recently announced science-fiction third-person shooter Scars Above.

Scars Above is a difficult, intense third-person shooter influenced by recent action-adventure games. It mixes genre hallmarks like the satisfying experience of conquering adversity with a captivating and detailed plot, thorough and sumptuous world design, and a living, breathing ecology to explore and suffer. This is a mystery and discovery game.
Something odd has entered Earth's orbit: the Metahedron, an alien and unknowable object made of matter that appears to defy the laws of physics. Your fate takes a stunning turn when you awaken in another world—dazed, alone on an unknown planet... but determined to stay alive—as part of a hurriedly assembled squad of astronauts and scientists set off to explore it.
Kate, our protagonist, isn't a battle-hardened soldier or a super-powered assassin—a she's resourceful, capable, and strong-willed woman who can persevere through any adversity. Kate is first and foremost a scientist: someone who utilizes their brains as a weapon—a weapon with which she is desperate to live. She exemplifies humanity's finest qualities: the ability to face fear with inquiry, suffering with determination, and darkness with logic.
Scars Above is due out for consoles and PC in 2022. Specific consoles have yet to be announced.
